Description

There is a fire next to the track in the Angmering area, closing all lines in the area.

This issue is near to a key junction, and is affecting all routes between Worthing, Angmering, Littlehampton and Barnham. This means that currently trains are unable to operate.

Trains running between Worthing and Littlehampton / Barnham will be cancelled, delayed until lines reopen as they may be held in station platforms, revised, or diverted via Arundel.

Major disruption is expected until approximately 18:00.

Customer advice:

No trains can run between Worthing and Littlehampton until further notice. You will need to use an alternative route to reach your destination.

If you're travelling through this area, you will need to use an alternative route to complete your journey. You may need to travel on more trains than normal, or change trains at an intermediate station to complete your journey. You should allow at least an additional 45 minutes to complete your journey today.

Expected service plan

The following service plan will be in place:

  • A shuttle service will run between Brighton and Worthing. This is made up of services which usually run between Brighton and Chichester, or Brighton and Bognor Regis

  • A shuttle service will run between Southampton and Littlehampton. This is made up of services which usually run between Brighton and Southampton

  • Trains which usually run between London Victoria and Littlehampton via Hove will have an altered calling patter. These services will call additionally at Three Bridges, and will run non-stop between Three Bridges and Littlehampton, via Horsham

  • A reduced service may run between Bognor Regis and Barnham, as a result of the timetabled shuttle services between these stations being suspended on an ad-hoc basis

Journey advice

For journeys across the affected area, you can use your ticket at no additional cost on Stagecoach 701 between Worthing and Littlehampton.

As a disrupted service is running between Littlehampton, Barnham, and Chichester, your ticket will be accepted at no additional cost on Stagecoach 500 between these stations.

As a disrupted service is running between Brighton and Worthing, your ticket will be accepted at no additional cost on Stagecoach 700 between Brighton and Worthing, and on Brighton & Hove Buses 46 between Brighton and Southwick.

For journeys between Brighton and Littlehampton / Barnham, it will be quicker to travel on alternative Southern and Thameslink services, changing at Three Bridges for services between these stations.

  • Stagecoach Buses on routes as follows:

    • 500 between Littlehampton, Barnham, Chichester

    • 700 between Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Fishersgate, Southwick, Shoreham-by-Sea, Lancing (Town), East Worthing, Worthing, West Worthing, Goring-by-Sea (Town), Durrington

    • 701 between Lancing, East Worthing, Worthing, West Worthing, Goring-by-Sea, Durrington (Town), Angmering (Town), Littlehampton

  • Brighton & Hove bus route 46 between Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Southwick and Shoreham-by-Sea

Train services are currently disrupted due to a fire near the tracks in the Angmering area. Fires in railway areas present a serious safety risk, as they can damage signalling equipment, power systems, and track infrastructure, and create unsafe conditions for trains and staff.

Emergency services are on site and trains cannot safely operate until the area has been assessed and declared safe.
