Description

A fault with the signalling system at Balham means that the line towards London is disrupted. As a result, trains in the Balham area may be delayed by up to 10 minutes or revised not to call at Balham.

Disruption is expected until 19:00.

Customer advice:

Southern services running through Balham are disrupted and a reduced service is in place until further notice. You should allow at least 15 minutes additional travel time to complete your journey, as you may need to change trains more than once to reach your destination.

What are the service changes?

The following will apply and may affect your journey:

Southern services from Horsham and Dorking towards London Victoria (those that run via Mitcham Junction) will not call at Balham. This only applies to London bound services only.

If you're on the train and need Balham, please change at Clapham Junction for a return service, extending your journey time by at least 10 minutes.

If you're travelling from Balham, please use alternative Southern services towards London Victoria.

London Victoria to Sutton services are reduced. Please use alternative Southern services via Hackbridge.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Network Rail is investigating a fault with the signalling system in the Balham area, preventing a full service from operating. Until the fault is fixed, a reduced service at Balham will be available towards London only.
