Description

Following a fault with the signalling system in the Banbury area, all lines have reopened.

Trains running to / from and through Banbury may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

  • Avanti West Coast between Birmingham New Street, Milton Keynes Central and London Euston

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street, Leamington Spa, Banbury, Oxford and Reading. Please note CrossCountry are also affected by this disruption

  • Elizabeth line between Reading, London Paddington and Central London

  • London Northwestern Railway / West Midlands Railway between Birmingham New Street, Coventry, Milton Keynes Central, Cheddington, Tring, Berkhamsted and London Euston and also between Coventry and Leamington Spa

London Underground routes:

  • Bakerloo line between Oxford Circus, Paddington and Marylebone

  • Central line between West Ruislip, South Ruislip and Oxford Circus

  • Metropolitan line between Amersham, Rickmansworth, Harrow-on-the-Hill and Baker Street

CrossCountry customer advice:

Rail replacement buses will be running between Leamington Spa and Banbury. You may use these services at no additional cost. Any confirmed coaches will be shown in online journey planners.

If your CrossCountry train is cancelled, then you can use your ticket on the two CrossCountry services operating before and the two CrossCountry services after your cancelled service.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Between Manchester / Birmingham and Reading / Southampton / Bournemouth via London:

  • Avanti West Coast between Manchester Piccadilly / Birmingham New Street and London Euston

  • London Northwestern Railway between Birmingham New Street and London Euston

  • London Underground between London terminals. Please show your ticket to gateline staff on the Underground to be allowed through the ticket gates

  • Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Reading / Oxford

  • South Western Railway between London Waterloo and Bournemouth

Between Birmingham and Reading via Oxford:

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Worcestershire Parkway

  • Great Western Railway between Worcestershire Parkway and Reading
