This is expected until 10:00.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Earlier today, Southern were advised of a problem with the safety phone equipment at level crossings in the Barnham and Chichester area. As a result, trains needed to stop on approach to the level crossings affected and then proceed at much slower speeds over each one.
The phones are necessary to allow level crossing users to report any obstructions on the track or other hazards, and also, in some cases, they are needed for users to gain permission to cross the railway. As a result, if they're not working, extra precautions need to be taken.
Network Rail manage level crossing equipment, and have now confirmed that the majority of these phones are working. Trains will continue to run slowly over a single level crossing between Barnham and Ford, but can now run as normal over the others in the area.
