Description

Following a fault with the signalling system between Flitwick and Bedford all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains between Luton and Bedford may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Disruption is expected until 23:00.

Thameslink Customer advice:

Some Thameslink services have been delayed by around 20-30 minutes between Flitwick and Bedford, as there was a signalling fault affecting the route into Bedford station.

This has now been resolved, but a few trains in the area still have delays. Staff are continuing work to reduce the disruption.

You can still use your normal route, but please be aware of the delays in the area, and leave extra time for your journey.

Your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on East Midlands Railway services between London St Pancras International, Luton Airport Parkway, Luton and Bedford, but some of their trains were also affected by this issue.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

A signalling problem near Bedford was leading to trains needing to use alternative lines on the approach to the station. In turn, this was generating congestion, and your journey may still take longer.

Network Rail response staff have been investigating the underlying issue, and the fault has now been resolved.
