Description

Due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line between Eastbourne and Hastings means that all lines are blocked. Train services running to and from these stations will be revised with no services running between Eastbourne and Ashford International.

Disruption is expected until 15:30.

Customer advice:

No trains can run between Eastbourne and Ashford International until further notice. You will need to use an alternative route to reach your destination.

Trains at Eastbourne will be congested whilst Network Rail are working to resolve a track issue.

You should allow at least an additional 60 minutes to complete your journey today.

Changes to service:

While this disruption is ongoing, we will be making the following changes to services:

  • Trains that normally run between London Victoria and Hastings / Ore will terminate at Eastbourne. Then they will start their return journey

  • Trains that normally run between Eastbourne and Ashford International will be cancelled until further notice


How do I get between Eastbourne and Hastings?

If you are travelling between Eastbourne and Hastings, you can use your ticket on Stagecoach Buses number 99.

Please be aware that using another form of transport will add at least an additional 30 minutes to your journey today.

How do I get between Hastings and Ashford International?

If you are travelling between Hastings and Ashford International you can use your ticket on Southeastern services to Tonbridge. From there you can change for your destination.

If you are travelling between Hastings and Rye you can use your ticket on Stagecoach Buses number 101. This will add between 15-45 minutes depending on your destination today.

If you are at Doleham, Appledore and Ham Street please speak to station staff or press the green emergency button on the help point for onwards travel.

Please be aware that using another form of transport will add at least an additional 30 minutes to your journey today.

Can I use my ticket with another operator?

You can travel on the following services at no additional cost:

  • Alternative Southern services

  • Southeastern services via Tonbridge

  • Stagecoach Buses on the following routes:

    • 99 between Eastbourne, Pevensey Bay, Bexhill, Glynde, St Leonards Warrior Square and Hastings

    • 101 between Hastings Ore, Winchelsea and Rye

Can you tell me more about the incident?

There has been a report of a train hitting obstruction on the railway, and this is now causing some disruption to services. Your train may be held on approach to the area, or it may need to be terminated before it gets to this part of the network.

Network Rail staff will be attending to remove the obstruction as quickly as they can. Unfortunately, it's not possible to try to run trains past this.
