Description

A fault with the signalling system between Warrington Central and Glazebrook means trains have to run at a reduced speed on the lines towards Manchester Oxford Road. Trains running between Liverpool South Parkway and Manchester Oxford Road may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

East Midlands Railway customer advice:

Trains running through the area may be delayed up to 20 minutes between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road.

Trains that are running towards Liverpool Lime Street are unaffected with this signalling fault.

Northern customer advice:

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are running at reduced speed between Warrington Central and Glazebrook (in this direction only).

Northern services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road (via Newton-le-Willows) are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can travel on TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway services at no extra cost between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

TransPennine Express customer advice:

While work is being carried out to resolve the issue, the following routes may be delayed or diverted via Newton-le-Willows:

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Cleethorpes in that direction only

Services that are diverted via Newton-le-Willows will miss the following stations:

  • Liverpool South Parkway

  • Birchwood

  • Warrington Central

  • Irlam

  • Urmston

You should continue to travel as planned; however, your journey may be delayed. If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any TransPennine Express or Northern service within the two hours before or after your cancelled service.
