Description

The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa. To allow them to safely access the railway and carry out their work, all lines running between these stations are closed.

Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up 60 minutes, revised or diverted.

This is expected until 19:00.

CrossCountry customer advice:

You may use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between London Euston and Birmingham New Street / Manchester Piccadilly

  • Chiltern Railways between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street

  • Great Western Railway services via any reasonable route

  • London Underground via any reasonable route

  • Transport for Wales between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa

If the train you were due to travel on is cancelled, you may use your existing ticket, at no extra cost, on the two CrossCountry services operating before or after your cancelled service.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption, and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this, at no extra cost.

Any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but coaches B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available), so you are advised to head to them.

  • First Bus on route Y6: Patchway (Little Stoke Lane), Bristol Parkway (Station), Yate (Station)

  • Stagecoach on routes:

    • 71: Gloucester (Bus Station), Ashchurch for Tewkesbury (Station)

    • 97, 98: Gloucester (Bus Station), Cheltenham (Promenade)

    • 65: Gloucester (Bus Station), Stonehouse (Elgin Mall), Cam, Dursley, Stroud (Merrywalks)

  • Transport for Wales between:

    • Cheltenham Spa and Cardiff Central via Gloucester and Newport

    • Cardiff Central and Hereford via Newport

If you wish to use local buses as an alternative means of transport during this disruption and the local bus is not accepting Great Western Railway tickets, please purchase a ticket on the bus, keep it and send it, together with your train ticket, to their customer services team to claim for a refund.
