Description

Lines have now reopened following a points failure at Cheshunt. However, whilst service recovers, trains running to / from / through this station may be revised or severely delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Major disruption is expected until 17:00.

Greater Anglia and Stansted Express customer advice:

Earlier, Greater Anglia and Stansted Express received reports of a points failure at Cheshunt. The points that allows trains to move from one track to the other had ceased. As a result they were unable to route trains via Tottenham Hale. Network Rail engineers have rectified the defect and train services can now run via their booked routes.

Alternative travel options:

Greater Anglia and Stansted Express tickets will be accepted on the following alternative options at no extra cost:

  • Great Northern services between Moorgate and Hertford North, and also between London Kings Cross and Cambridge

  • London Overground Weaver line between London Liverpool Street and Enfield Town

  • London Underground services between London and Seven Sisters, Tottenham Hale

  • Great Northern - Moorgate is a short distance from London Liverpool Street via the Elizabeth line platforms

  • Thameslink services between London Kings Cross and Cambridge

  • London Buses

    • 158 between Stratford and Lea Bridge

    • 55 between Lea Bridge and Hackney Central

    • 279 from Seven Sisters towards Edmonton Green, Ponders End, Waltham Cross and Cheshunt

  • London Overground - Stations on the Seven Sisters route are only a short distance from those on the Tottenham Hale route

Stansted Express travel advice – towards Stansted Airport (approximately journey time up to 2 hours 30 minutes)

  • From London Liverpool Street, travel on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines to London Kings Cross/ London St Pancras International

  • Change for Great Northern services from London Kings Cross to Cambridge

  • Change at Cambridge for the first available train to Stansted Airport

Stansted Express travel advice – towards London Liverpool Street (approximate journey time up to 2 hours 30 minutes)

  • From Stansted Airport, travel on the first available train to Cambridge

  • Change at Cambridge for Great Northern trains to London Kings Cross

  • Travel on travel on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines from London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International to London Liverpool Street
