Description

A fault with the signalling system at Chesterfield means some lines are blocked. Trains running between Sheffield and Derby / Nottingham may be delayed by up to 25 minutes, cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 18:30.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on the following services:

  • The two CrossCountry services operating before and after your cancelled service

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost

Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area from Derby towards Chesterfield / Sheffield on the London St Pancras / Sheffield route in both directions can continue run.

Trains running though the area from Chesterfield towards Nottingham on the Liverpool Lime Street / Nottingham / Peterborough route cannot run.

Trains running through the area from Nottingham towards Chesterfield on the Liverpool Lime Street / Nottingham / Peterborough route can continue to run.

How do I get where I need to be?

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost to travel via the following alternative routes:

  • CrossCountry between Sheffield and Derby / Nottingham

These alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket, other train operators know about the disruption to your journey and your ticket can be used at no extra cost on their trains.

These arrangements will remain in place until the line re-opens and the train service recovers.

Train services are unable to run between Sheffield - Nottingham (in both directions).

Services between Leeds - Nottingham will be affected by this disruption.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on East Midlands Railway services at no extra cost between Sheffield and Nottingham.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport has been requested to operate between Sheffield and Nottingham. More information will be provided when known.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick-up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.
