Route(s) affected

Between Bristol Temple Meads and Oxford / London Paddington, between Weston-super-Mare and London Paddington, and also between Westbury and Swindon

Description

A train has broken down between Chippenham and Swindon, meaning that fewer trains are able to run. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 17:00.

Customer advice:

Trains are able to run through the area using the other line, however this will lead to some delays and congestion as trains wait to take their turn on the available line. Some trains, in both directions, will also be diverted via an alternative route and will not stop at Bath Spa or Chippenham, these will be shown in journey planners.

If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
