Description

The emergency services have completed their work following an earlier incident where a person was hit by a train between Colchester and Witham, allowing all lines to reopen. Trains between Colchester and Chelmsford may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised whilst service recovers.

Trains have been disrupted. Greater Anglia are now in the process of restoring trains back to the timetable, but some trains may still be delayed or cancelled while they do this. Check the latest information using the live departure boards.

Alternative travel options:

Please be prepared for a delay to your journey. You may need to take a different train than originally planned.

Replacement buses:

Accessible replacement buses will be running between Colchester and Witham, should your train be cancelled. bus journeys are expected to take 30 - 40 minutes.

Greater Anglia have arranged for you to be able to use your ticket on First Bus routes 71 and 371 between Colchester and Chelmsford at no extra cost. Please note this bus does not serve train stations.

Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
