Description

The failed freight train in the Diss area has now been moved, allowing lines to reopen.

As services recover, some trains between Stowmarket and Norwich may still be cancelled.

Disruption is expected until 10:00.

Overview

An engineering train broke down near Diss during overnight engineering work, and required rescuing from another locomotive.

This process is similar to using a car breakdown service.

The train has now regained power and has now been moved away from the running lines.

Service Impact

Intercity trains are now able to run between Norwich and Ipswich, however there may be some gaps in service, delays and alterations occurring.

Services between Ipswich, Colchester and London Liverpool Street may still be busier than usual.

Alternative routes on the Greater Anglia network

Customers travelling from Norwich to London

  • Travel on the first available train to Ely or Cambridge and change there for services to London Kings Cross and London Liverpool Street

Customers travelling from Norwich to Ipswich

  • Travel on the Greater Anglia from Norwich to Lowestoft and change there for services to Ipswich

  • Travel on the first available train to Ely and change there for services to Ipswich

Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
