Rail replacement buses running between Downham Market and Ely

Description

A road accident near the railway between Downham Market and Ely means rail replacement services running between these stations are being disrupted.

Disruption to rail replacement services is expected until 12:00.

Customer Advice:

Rail replacement buses, which run between Downham Market and Ely, will be suspended until further notice.

If you can delay your travel until later in the morning, please do.

If you are travelling between these stations, your journey may take up to 40 minutes longer than usual, and you will need to travel using an alternative route.

This is due to an emergency road closure between Littleport and Downham Market, which has closed the A10 road. The alternative route is unsuitable for buses to traverse.

Buses will continue to run between Cambridge North and Ely, and between Downham Market and Kings Lynn.

When you've made your journey as far as possible, please speak to station staff for assistance with your travel.

If there are no staff, you can use the green Emergency button on the station Help Point at Great Northern stations. At stations which are run by other train companies, please use the Information button on the Help Point, and the message will be passed through to Great Northern.

Alternative options

If you are travelling from Kings Lynn to London, you may wish to use First Bus Excel routes A, B or C to travel to Peterborough to get a train to London.

If you are travelling from London to Kings Lynn, you may wish to use train services to Peterborough to get First Bus Excel routes A, B or C to Kings Lynn.

Routes A, B and C take around 1h 20m between Peterborough and Kings Lynn. Please note we are unable to provide ticket acceptance on these routes, so you'd need to purchase a separate bus ticket.

  • Great Northern or Thameslink services on any reasonable route, including via Peterborough for routes towards London

Can you tell me more about the incident?

The police are dealing with an incident in the Littleport area, which has closed the A10 road between Littleport and Downham Market. While this is ongoing, no buses will run between Ely and Downham Market until further notice.
