Thameslink services between Bedford and Three Bridges / Brighton, and also between Finsbury Park and Horsham / Brighton
Description
A points failure between East Croydon and Reigate / Gatwick Airport means that some lines are blocked.
As a result, trains running between these stations may be delayed up to 20 minutes, cancelled, revised or diverted via Redhill.
Disruption is expected until 15:00.
Customer advice:
A points failure in the Redhill area means that the following changes are expected to services:
Gatwick Express services will be suspended, or will run between Gatwick Airport and Brighton only
Southern services that run between London Victoria and Reigate will be suspended
Other Southern and Thameslink services may experience delays heading southbound between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport, and some short notice alterations are possible - this means some services may have cancelled stops, or will terminate and start at a different station to normal
For most journeys, you should be able to travel using your normal route but you may need to take a different train than planned or change trains en route. Journeys may take around 15-20 minutes longer than usual as a result so please allow extra time to account for this.
Ticket acceptance:
Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on the following:
Southern and Thameslink services via any reasonable route, including between London, Gatwick Airport and Brighton
Great Western Railway services between Redhill and Reigate
London Underground via any reasonable route between London Terminals

Can you tell me more about the incident?
A points failure is affecting some routes through this area.
Points are moveable sections of track that guide trains onto different routes at junctions. If they develop a fault due to obstructions, electronic failures or other issues, trains cannot safely pass.
Network Rail is sending teams to investigate. To work safely, they may need to stop trains, which could delay services.
Once on-site, they'll diagnose the fault and look for a quick fix. Some repairs may take longer if replacement parts or expert advice are needed.
Check before you travel:

Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
