Description
A fault on a train at Edale means that the line between Stockport / New Mills Central and Sheffield is disrupted. As a result, services operating between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 40 minutes.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
East Midlands Railway customer advice:
There is a fault on a train at Edale. This is between Stockport and Sheffield and is disrupting East Midlands Railway trains on the Liverpool Lime Street / Nottingham / Norwich route.
Network Rail and engineers are going to investigate the problem.
How does this affect my train?
Trains can not run between Stockport and Sheffield in both directions.
As soon as the problem is fixed, the priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. The advertised timetable is expected to resume on the affected routes by 22:30.
How do I get where I need to be?
You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 40 minutes.
East Midlands Railway are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move. Please remember that this can take time and be assured that the team are working tirelessly to arrange this as quickly as possible for you.
Northern customer advice:
Services between Chinley and Sheffield are returning to normal. However, fewer train services are able to run between these stations whilst service recovers.
Manchester Piccadilly - Sheffield / New Mills Central services may be affected by this disruption.
Manchester Piccadilly - Buxton services stopping at New Mills Newtown are NOT affected by this disruption.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Road transport:
To assist you with your journey, the following road transport is in place:
Two 16 seater buses operated by RSZ will depart New Mills Central at 23:30 calling at stations to Sheffield
Two 16 seater buses operated by Elite will depart Sheffield at 23:30 calling at stations to Chinley then drop off passengers as required to Manchester Piccadilly
One 16 seater bus operated by RSZ will depart Chinley at 00:10 calling at stations to Manchester Piccadilly

Rail replacement transport:
Customers at Manchester Piccadilly are advised that Rail replacement transport has been requested to operate between Manchester and Sheffield. Customers travelling further are advised to see station staff at Sheffield where onward road transport will be provided.
