Description

Urgent repairs to the track between Redhill and Tonbridge means that all lines are blocked. as a result, trains running between these stations will be cancelled.

This is expected to continue until approximately 22:00.

Customer advice

You will need to use an alternative route to travel and allow extra time to complete your journey.
No services are able to run between Redhill and Tonbridge until further notice.

This means that the following stations are not being served by Southern services:

  • Nutfield

  • Godstone

  • Edenbridge

  • Penshurst

  • Leigh

  • Tonbridge

Your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • Alternative Southern and Thameslink services between Redhill, London, Edenbridge Town and Caterham

  • Southeastern Railway services between London and Tonbridge

  • Metrobus route 400 between Redhill and Caterham


Rail replacement buses are being organised and will be running between Redhill and Tonbridge as soon as possible.

These buses are expected to arrive at the following times:

  • Redhill: 19:45

  • Tonbridge: 20:00

Travelling via an alternative route will take longer than usual. We recommend leaving at least 40 minutes more time to complete your journey.
Please talk to station staff, look at information boards or check your journey planner for the latest information. You can also use the green emergency button on a station help point for further assistance with your journey.

Travelling to / from a station between Redhill and Tonbridge:

If you are travelling to /f rom Nutfield or Godstone, we recommend using Metrobus route 400 either from Redhill or Caterham. Your ticket will also be accepted on alternative Southern services between London and Caterham.

If you are travelling to/from Edenbridge, we recommend using alternative Southern services via Edenbridge Town, which continue to run. Edenbridge Town is about a 20 minute walk from Edenbridge station.

For journeys to/from Tonbridge, you can use Southeastern services to/from London. You can also change for a Thameslink service at Sevenoaks or Orpington at no extra cost.

If you are travelling to Penshurst or Leigh, please travel as close to the station as possible (either Edenbridge Town or Tonbridge) and speak to staff there for further assistance. If you are travelling from these stations, please press the green emergency button on a help point for further support.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

We have been made aware of a defect in the rail in the Nutfield area. Due to this, no trains are able to run to Tonbridge, which consequently affects the return services from Tonbridge as well.

Network Rail engineers are assessing the incident and we hope to get the service back running as normal as soon as possible.
