Description

The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot. So that they can safely carry out their work, all lines have been closed.

Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 85 minutes or revised as a result.

This is expected until 10:00.

CrossCountry customer advice:

If your train is cancelled, you may use your ticket at no extra cost on the two CrossCountry services operating before and after your cancelled service.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on Great Western Railway services between Gloucester and Penzance via Bristol Temple Meads in both directions until further notice.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them.

Your journey is likely to be delayed and could take up to 90 minutes longer to complete. Some trains will be revised, only completing parts of their normal journeys, and there will also be some cancellations.

To avoid trains being stopped for a long time outside of a station, some of longer distance trains may be held in station platforms some distance away from the affected area.

Some services between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth via Newton Abbot (currently in this direction only) have been suspended.

You may use your ticket, on extra cost, on the following rail services:

• CrossCountry train services between Bristol Temple Meads and Penzance, in both directions (please be aware their services are also affected by this incident and may be subject to delay)

• South Western Railway services between Exeter St David's and London Waterloo via Salisbury

You may also use your ticket, at no extra cost, on the following local Stagecoach bus routes. Just show your train ticket to the driver:

• Route 2 between Exeter (Bus Station, stand 5), Starcross (Railway Station), Dawlish Warren (Stops on the A379 Exeter Road), Dawlish (The Green, stop A, towards Newton Abbot. Brookdale Terrace, stop B, towards Exeter), Teignmouth (Seaview Diner, stop A, towards Newton Abbot. Triangle, stop B, towards Exeter), Newton Abbot (Sherborne Road, stop F)

• Route 11 between Dawlish Warren (Beach Road), Dawlish (The Green, stop A, towards Torquay. Brookdale Terrace, stop B, towards Dawlish Warren), Teignmouth (Seaview Diner, stop A, towards Torquay. Triangle, stop B, towards Dawlish), Torquay (outside English Riviera Centre)

• Route 12 between Newton Abbot (Railway Station, stop K), Torre (Newton Road, outside number 32 towards Newton Abbot, outside number 27 towards Paignton), Torquay (stops near Grand Hotel on Torbay Road), Paignton (Bus Station, stand 14)

• Route 22 between Torquay (stop opposite Grand Hotel on Torbay Road), Paignton (Bus Station, stand 14).

• Route B between Marsh Barton (Hennock Road Central), Exeter St Thomas (Riverside Leisure Centre), Exeter City Centre (High Street), St James' Park (Sorry Head towards Polsloe Bridge, Trust House towards City Centre), Polsloe Bridge (Tarbet Avenue)

• Route C between Marsh Barton (Hennock Road Central), Exeter St Thomas (Haven Banks, Malt House), Exeter City Centre (High Street), Digby & Sowton (Sowton Park & Ride)

• Routes A, E and P between Exeter St Thomas (St Thomas Precinct, On Cowick Street), Exeter City Centre (High Street)

Replacement transport has been requested, however, no operators in the area have available vehicles at the moment. Great Western Railway are continuing to search for alternatives - you'll be provided with updates here.

If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.
