Description

A points failure between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges means that all lines are blocked.

As a result, trains are unable to operate between these stations and willbe cancelled or revised.

Major disruption is expected until 20:00

Customer advice:

Southern and Thameslink services are unable to run between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges in either direction. This is due to a points failure.

This will affect services between Gatwick Airport and the South Coast, as well as diverted trains between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria.

You will need to use a different route or alternative local public transport options to travel between the Three Bridges / Crawley areas and Gatwick Airport. Your journey is likely to take at least 30 minutes longer than expected.

Services are also affected by major engineering works today.

Service changes:

Southern services which were due to run between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria:

These trains are diverted already, and will be further revised. They will now run between Three Bridges and London Victoria, with additional stops at Crawley, for further Metrobus connections.

Southern services which were due to run between Gatwick Airport and Portsmouth Harbour / Bognor Regis:

These trains will now run between Three Bridges and Portsmouth Harbour / Bognor Regis.

Southern services which were due to run between Three Bridges and Eastbourne / Ore:

These trains will now run between Haywards Heath and Eastbourne / Ore.

Thameslink services between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges / Brighton:

These trains will be unable to run on the part of the route between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges.

Alternative journey options:

To travel between London and Gatwick Airport, please take a train between London Bridge and East Grinstead, and then use frequent replacement buses operating between East Grinstead and Gatwick Airport.

For local journeys between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges, including connections with trains at Three Bridges Station, please use Metrobus services on routes 3, 4, 5, 20 or 100, which will accept your rail ticket at no extra cost.

A very limited replacement bus service will run between Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges.

All trains, local buses and replacement bus services in this area are currently extremely busy.

Multiple sets of points have failed just south of Gatwick Airport, meaning all routes to & from this station are blocked. Staff are working with Network Rail to resolve this as soon as possible.
