Across the Southern and Thameslink networks

Description

Multiple incidents on the Southern and Thameslink networks mean that services running across the network may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

If you need to travel on the Southern network this afternoon, please allow at least 60 extra minutes to complete your journey.

There are a number of cancellations and service changes in place, and you may need to use more than one train to reach your destination.

Please only travel if your journey is essential. Alternative travel options are limited, and if your planned service is not running, you may need to make your own arrangements.

West Coastway route:

  • Services to and from Barnham and Bognor Regis are severely disrupted due to ongoing signalling faults. Barnham to Bognor Regis shuttle services are suspended

  • No Southern services are able to run to or from Southampton Central. Brighton to Southampton services will instead, divert into Portsmouth Harbour, or will not run beyond Bognor Regis

East Coastway route:

  • Services to and from London Victoria, Hastings and Ore will not stop at Plumpton or Cooksbridge in both directions

  • There are a number of speed restrictions at Glynde and Seaford, which means services will experience delays or cancellation

Brighton Mainline and other routes:

A reduced service is operating on the Uckfield line due to a unit fault. Please consider travelling later if you can, as alternatives are limited

Thameslink services:

Thameslink services in the London and Kent areas are delayed and facing cancellation due to earlier signalling faults. Please wait for the next available train.

If you're travelling in the London area, you can plan journeys on alternative routes by using the TfL Journey Planner.

The Southern and Thameslink apps will also help you plan your journey.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Southern and Thameslink are seeing a number of separate incidents affecting their services.

These incidents mean services are heavily disrupted across the entire network. Whilst some incidents may be resolved, trains and traincrew are heavily displaced and the service is likely to remain disrupted until close of service. Whilst they are working to maintain the remaining services, due to the extreme hot weather it is unlikely service can be recovered until at least the end of the day.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
