Various Great Western Railway routes

Description

Over the course of this weekend, various routes across the Great Western Railway network are being heavily disrupted due to more trains than usual requiring repairs, and train crew availability.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day tomorrow, Sunday 13 July.

Information for travel today, Saturday 12 July:

Services are currently suspended between Plymouth and Gunnislake, however, are expected to begin running again shortly.

Rail replacement transport is in operation between these stations, in both directions.

Information for travel tomorrow, Sunday 13 July:

No trains will operate on the following routes:

  • Between Westbury and Weymouth (no bus replacement service will operate on this route)

  • Between Swindon and Westbury (a very limited bus replacement services will operate on this route)

A reduced amended timetable will operate between Wesbury and Bristol Temple Meads. On this route, customers should change their plans if possible, and only travel if necessary. Fewer trains will run, and those that do run will be extremely busy. Some further services may also be cancelled or delayed at short notice.

Because of the late-notice changes, and the complexity of updating timetable systems, journey planners will not show changes correctly before Sunday morning.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey for today using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner. For journeys on Sunday 13 July, please check back closer to the time of travelling.

For helpful advice if you need to travel on a rail replacement service, including accessibility and bicycle information, please use our Rail Replacement Services page.

You can find the pick-up and set-down location of rail replacement services by checking station signage or by searching for your station on our Find a Station page.

Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
