Description

Disruption caused by a fault with the signalling system at Hastings has been rectified and trains are returning to normal. Services may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 16:00.

Customer advice:

A major signalling fault has occurred at Hastings earlier today and we are working on recovering the service.

Most trains are running on the scheduled routes again, however some services towards Ore and Ashford International are still affected by delays of up to 20 minutes and may still be altered.

Southern tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • Stagecoach buses between:
    - Eastbourne and Hastings
    - Hastings and Rye
    - Ham Street and Ashford International

  • Southeastern train services between:
    - Hastings, St Leonards Warrior Square, Tonbridge and London Bridge (this route is also disrupted by the same issue)
    - Tonbridge and Ashford International

Can you tell me more about the incident?

At the moment, Southern working with local staff and colleagues at Network Rail to deal with a major signalling system fault in the Hastings area. Some lines are now open, but they can only run a limited service.
