Can you tell me more about the incident?

Trains operators have been advised that a freight train has broken down in the Havant area this afternoon, and is currently blocking multiple routes through the area.

The driver has made attempts to reset the train but without any success at this point. A rescue locomotive is now on route and expected to arrive by around 14.30. Once on site, it'll attach to the broken down train and then move it so that it is no longer blocking the line - at present the estimate for lines to reopen is around 15.30.

South Western Railway customer advice:

There is a plan in place for the broken down freight train to be met by a rescue train so that it can be moved, the rescue train is coming from Southampton and should be in place and able to move the freight train by 3pm.
