Between Hertford North and Gordon Hill
Description
Overrunning engineering works between Hertford North and Gordon Hill mean all lines are closed. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
This is expected until 09:00.
Customer advice:
Engineering works in the Cuffley area are overrunning, and all lines through this station are currently closed.
This means Great Northern services are unable to run between Gordon Hill, Hertford North and Stevenage until further notice.
Alternative routes in the area are limited due to the time of day and additional engineering works taking place. At this stage, we'd recommend delaying your journey until later this morning when the line reopens.
If you are unable to postpone your journey, please speak to our station staff, if available, or use the emergency button on the station Help Point if there are no staff.
Great Northern will do their best to provide alternative road transport, but this is likely to take some time to arrive.
Planning your journey:
You can see the live departure boards, and view a live map of the network.
The Great Northern app is also being updated with the latest service information.
Can you tell me more about the incident?
Engineering works were due to finish at 06:15 this morning. Unfortunately, due to an equipment failure, a section of rail needs to be attached with specialist clamps, which need to be taken from the London area to Cuffley, and then fitted by Network Rail's engineering teams.
We're working to monitor progress, and we will let you know when the line has reopened.
Check before you travel:
You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.
Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
