Description

The emergency services have completed their work following an earlier incident where a person was hit by a train. This has allowed all lines between Leicester and Kettering to reopen. Whilst service recovers, trains may still be delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or cancelled.

Disruption is expected until 16:00.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area in both directions can now start to run however they will be subject to last minute alterations and delays.

The priority now will be to get trains running to their advertised times again.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as planned however your journey maybe altered or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

East Midlands Railway are looking into arranging bus shuttles to run between Leicester, Market Harborough and Kettering these are expected to arrive between 13:35 and 13:45 at both Leicester and Kettering and will be managed on site by station teams.

If you hold an ‘Advance Ticket’ which is usually valid on a specific train you may use it to travel on any East Midlands Railway service on this route.

Sheffield

You can travel to Doncaster where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. LNER, who run the trains between Doncaster and London Kings Cross recommend booking a seat reservation.

Derby / Chesterfield

You can travel to Birmingham New Street where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take between 2.5 and 3 hours to complete this journey.

Nottingham

You can travel to Grantham where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. LNER, who run the trains between Grantham and London Kings Cross recommend booking a seat reservation.

Leicester

You can travel to Nuneaton where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take 2 hours to complete this journey.
