Route(s) affected

All Avanti West Coast trains to / from London Euston

London Northwestern Railway between London Euston and Tring / Bletchley / Milton Keynes Central / Rugby / Coventry / Birmingham New Street / Crewe

Southern between Watford Junction and East Croydon

Description

Damage to the overhead wires in the Kings Langley area means some lines to / from Watford Junction are blocked.

As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 11:00.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

Southern customer advice:

Southern services are disrupted by a problem with the overhead electric wires at Watford Junction.

Some trains between Watford Junction and East Croydon will be cancelled, and others will only run on the part of the route between Shepherds Bush and East Croydon, not serving Watford Junction, Harrow & Wealdstone or Wembley Central.

This affects services in both directions, northbound and southbound.

This means you may need to use an alternative route to get to your destination, which will take up to 30-45 minutes longer, so please leave extra time.

Your Southern ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • London Overground on:

    • Lioness line services between Watford Junction, Harrow & Wealdstone, Wembley Central, Willesden Junction and London Euston

    • Mildmay line services between Willesden Junction, Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction

  • London Underground services on any reasonable route across Central, North and West London, including services between London Terminals, for connections to London Victoria

  • Alternative Southern services to / from London Victoria

  • Chiltern Railways services between Wembley Stadium and London Marylebone

  • London Buses serving any station between Watford Junction, Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction

Southern do not recommend using London Northwestern Railway services, as these are also disrupted.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Overhead wire issues are causing disruption via Watford Junction, and a points failure is also blocking access to some of the platforms at this location. Southern are working with Network Rail to deal with both issues as quickly as possible.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
