Description
The emergency services have now completed their work and are safely clear of the railway following an incident where a person had been hit by a train between Loughborough and Leicester. Although the lines have reopened between these stations, trains between Derby / Nottingham and Leicester may still be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised whilst services return to normal.
Major disruption is expected to continue until 14:00.

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.
Trains are likely to experience extended delays or alterations. You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and the quickest way to get where you need to be. Your ticket can be used at no extra cost to travel via the following alternative routes:
Sheffield
You may travel to Doncaster using Northern and TransPennine Express services between Doncaster and Sheffield where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. LNER, who run the trains between Doncaster and London Kings Cross recommend booking a seat reservation. Chesterfield / Derby
You may travel to Birmingham New Street onboard CrossCountry services where you should change for a Avanti West Coast or London Northwestern Railway to London Euston. Nottingham
You may travel to Grantham where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. LNER, who run the trains between Grantham and London Kings Cross.
Leicester
You may travel to Nuneaton onboard CrossCountry services where you should change for a Avanti West Coast or London Northwestern Railway service to London Euston. It is likely to take 2 hours to complete this journey.
All of these alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket, arrangements have already made with other train companies for you to travel with your original ticket.
