Description

A safety inspection of the track in the Levenshulme area means that trains are having to run at reduced speed on some lines. As a result, trains running between Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly may be delayed by up to 15 minutes or cancelled.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

If you no longer wish to travel because your train's delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.

Northern customer advice:

Crewe / Alderley Edge to Manchester Piccadilly services will be diverted and will not call at Handforth, Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, Heaton Chapel or Levenshulme.

Customers at Wilmslow requiring stations towards Manchester Piccadilly via Stockport are advised to travel to Manchester Piccadilly, and change there for alternative Northern services that will call at Levenshulme, Heaton Chapel, Stockport, Cheadle Hulme or Handforth which are not affected by this disruption.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Rail replacement transport has been arranged to run as follows:

  • One full size bus will depart Wilmslow 21:50 calling at Handforth, Cheadle Hulme and Stockport, then calling at stations as required to Manchester Piccadilly (operated by S Line)

  • One full size bus will depart Wilmslow 22:30 calling at Handforth, Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, Heaton Chapel, Levenshulme and Manchester Piccadilly (operated by Bestway)

  • One full size bus will depart Wilmslow 23:50 calling at Handforth, Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, Heaton Chapel, Levenshulme and Manchester Piccadilly (operated by S Line)

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycle’s, e-bikes and dogs (excluding service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport

TransPennine Express customer advice:

Trains travelling on the Cleethorpes to Liverpool Lime Street route, in the direction of Manchester Piccadilly only may be delayed.
