Description
The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Macclesfield / Crewe and Stoke-on-Trent. As all lines are currently closed, trains will be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
Major disruption is expected until 16:00.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following alternatives:
CrossCountry via any reasonable route
East Midlands Railway via any reasonable route
Northern services between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe in both directions
Transport for Wales between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe in both directions
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
CrossCountry customer advice:
Macclesfield and Stoke-On-Trent will not be served.
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on the following services and routes:
Avanti West Coast services between Stafford and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions
Northern between Manchester Piccadilly and Macclesfield in both directions
Limited road transport is in operation between Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent operated by Zen Coaches.
If your CrossCountry train is cancelled, then you can use your ticket on the two CrossCountry services operating before and the two CrossCountry services after your cancelled service
Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over, but Coach B, H and L are our unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them. You can view the formation of our trains via www.realtimetrains.co.uk
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost
East Midlands Railway customer advice:
East Midlands Railway have requested buses to shuttle between Crewe and Stoke-On-Trent. Currently, the earliest they can source buses to operate is at 13:30. More information will follow when confirmed.
If you are at Crewe and you wish to travel to Derby / Nottingham you can use your tickets at no additional cost to travel with London North Western Railway to Tamworth, you can then change at Tamworth for CrossCountry services to Nottingham and Derby. This option applies in the opposite direction too and will added up to 60 minutes to your journey time.
London Northwestern Railway customer advice:
Rail replacement buses are in operation between Stafford and Crewe until further notice. Please speak to a member of staff for more information.
Northern customer advice:
Road transport will operate as follows between Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent.
1x Full size coach will depart Macclesfield at 13:00 calling stations to Stoke-on-Trent operated by Dave's Handy Riders
1x Full size coach will depart Stoke-on-Trent at 13:00 calling stations to Macclesfield, Operated by JKT
