Description
A safety inspection on a train at Mitcham Junction means that the line towards London is blocked. As a result of this, trains running through Mitcham Junction may be delayed by up to 40 minutes, cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 17:00.
Customer advice:
No trains can run through Mitcham Junction towards London until further notice.

There also be some further ad hoc service changes and cancellations.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
A fault was reported on a Thameslink train on the London-bound line at Mitcham Junction. It has since been found that this was caused by an umbrella on the track, which then got caught in the equipment on the underside of the train.
Response teams are removing this now, and will reopen the railway as soon as as they can, and then restore the timetable.
