Through Mitcham Junction

Description

A train hitting an obstruction on the line at Mitcham Junction means that some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 10:00.

Customer advice:

If you are travelling from Mitcham Junction towards Sutton you will need to change more times than normal. Please allow at least an additional 45 minutes to complete your journey.

If you are travelling in the opposite direction from Sutton towards Mitcham Junction you can continue your normal route. Trains on this route may be delayed by up to 20 minutes.

Please talk to station staff, look at the information boards or check your journey planner for the most recent information.

How are services changing?

While this disruption is ongoing, the following changes will apply to services:

  • Trains that normally run from Sutton towards St Albans City via Wimbledon will now run via Mitcham Junction instead

  • Trains that normally run from St Albans City to Sutton via Mitcham Junction will all run via Wimbledon instead


How do I get from Mitcham Junction to London Victoria?

You should use your ticket on London Trams from Mitcham Junction to East Croydon. From there you can get a direct Southern service direct to London Victoria.

You can travel on the following services at no additional cost;

  • Southern services between Sutton, London Bridge and London Victoria

  • Thameslink services between Sutton, East Croydon and London

  • London Underground between London terminals including Morden

  • London Buses between Sutton and Wimbledon

  • London Trams between Wimbledon, Mitcham Junction and East Croydon

There has been a report of an obstruction on the railway, and this is now causing some disruption to services. Your train may be held on approach to the area, or it may need to be terminated before it gets to this part of the network.

Network Rail staff will be attending to remove the obstruction as quickly as they can. Unfortunately, it's not possible to try to run trains past this.
