Description
Following the emergency services dealing with an incident earlier today between Northallerton and York, lines have reopened. Trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised to allow the service to recover.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
CrossCountry customer advice:
CrossCountry have been unable to source road transport. You are advised to please travel on other services once lines have reopened or speak to station staff.
If you are travelling between Edinburgh and Newcastle, you may travel using LNER or TransPennine Express services between these stations at no extra cost.
You may also use your ticket on Northern services calling at York, Leeds, Doncaster or Sheffield at no extra cost.
You do not need to amend your ticket to use it on these services.
Other options:
If the train you were due to travel on is cancelled, you may use your existing ticket, at no extra cost, on the two CrossCountry services operating before or after your cancelled service.
Any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but coaches B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available), so you are advised to head to them.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption, and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this, at no extra cost.
