Description

Following a fault with the signalling system at Norwood Junction all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

London Overground Customer Advice:

Penge West, Anerley, Norwood Junction and West Croydon will not be served.

Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace and New Cross services will run as booked. 2 West Croydon services per hour will be diverted into Crystal Palace, 2 West Croydon services per hour will terminate short at Surrey Quays.

Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on the following:

  • Local Buses via any reasonable route

  • Southern / Thameslink between London Bridge and East Croydon, and also between Crystal Palace and West Croydon

Southern / Thameslink Customer Advice:

Trains can now begin to run between East Croydon and London Bridge as booked.

We're working to return to our scheduled timetable, but please continue to check journey planners and station information boards before you travel. Some trains in the area will still be disrupted, and your journey may take up to 40 minutes longer than usual.

Some trains which are already running may still run via Selhurst / Tulse Hill, so please check that your train will call at your expected destination.

Some trains may still run to our amended service plan:

The following trains will not run:

  • Thameslink Three Bridges to Bedford services

Some trains may still be diverted after East Croydon towards London:

  • Thameslink Brighton to Bedford will divert via Tulse Hill

  • Southern West Croydon to London Victoria services will divert via Selhurst and may not call at all stations en route.

  • Southern London Bridge to Epsom Downs services will divert via Selhurst.

You can still use your ticket to travel at no extra cost on:

  • Alternative Southern or Thameslink services on any reasonable route towards your destination

  • London Underground on any reasonable route

  • London buses on routes between East Croydon and London Bridge

  • Brighton & Hove buses between Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough, and Tunbridge Wells

  • Southeastern services between Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, and London Bridge.

Please note that if you have not yet started your journey, it may now be faster to wait for the next expected train service.

To help you plan your journey, you can find our alternative route maps on the website, and if you are travelling by TfL services you can plan your journey on their website.

You can use a live map of the network, this will show where your journey is likely to be affected and also live departure boards to help plan your journey.

You can also use the Southern app to find up-to-date travel information.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

A fault with the signalling system has been reported in the Norwood Junction area, which initially brought some trains in the area to a standstill. Currently, no trains can run from Norwood Junction towards London Bridge. These trains may instead, where driver route knowledge allows, run via Selhurst / Tulse Hill in the direction towards London.

Network Rail teams are investigating this fault now, and we hope to have further updates soon.

Check before you travel:
