Description
Lines have now reopened following a trespass incident at Norwood Junction. However, whilst service recovers, trains running through the station may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or diverted.
Disruption is expected until 22:00.
Southern and Thameslink customer advice:
Services can now run through the Norwood Junction area again. Trains that run between East Croydon / Norwood Junction and London Bridge have been affected by this incident, as well as services that run between West Croydon and London Victoria, London Bridge and London Victoria, and between Beckenham Junction and London Bridge.
Delays of up to 30 minutes are still expected, and services may still be subject to short notice alterations and cancellations. Some services may have cancelled stops, will terminate and restart at a different station to normal, or will be diverted via alternative routes.
Please consider delaying your journey until later, once services have returned to normal. If you travel now then your journey will take longer than usual and you will likely need to take a different train than planned, change trains en route or use an alternative route instead. Please allow plenty of extra time - at present we'd advise at least an extra 30-45 minutes.
Tickets will be accepted for no extra cost on the following:
Southern and Gatwick Express services via any reasonable route including to / from London Victoria
Thameslink services via any reasonable route including between London Blackfriars and Mitcham Junction / Sutton
Great Northern services on any reasonable route including between London and Peterborough / Cambridge
Southeastern services via any reasonable route including to / from Beckenham Junction and to/from Tunbridge Wells
London Underground on any reasonable route including between London Terminals

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Earlier this evening, a trespass incident was reported in the Norwood Junction area, and trains were stopped for safety. Emergency services and Network Rail have attended and removed the person from the railway.
Trespassing on the railway is extremely dangerous. Trains run at all times, often without warning, and many areas have high-voltage third rails, steep drops, and other hazards.
It is also illegal, with serious penalties for obstructing the railway.
