Description

The Met Office have issued yellow and amber weather warnings for heavy rainfall today, Monday 15 December.

The warnings cover areas of south west England, including Wales, with flooding possible on some routes.

Great Western Railway services across Cornwall, Devon and Wales may be disrupted, with delays, alternations and cancellations likely. You are strongly advised to check before you travel.

No trains between Par and Newquay

Heavy rain has flooded the railway at Roche, resulting in the line between Par and Newquay being closed for safety purposes.

Trains are unable to run between Par and Newquay until the end of the day.

Rail replacement transport is running between St Austell and Newquay to help you complete your journey. If you are at or require Par station, you may use alternative GWR services to and from St Austell to help you connect with the bus service. This will be at no extra cost to yourself.

During this disruption if you wish to use local buses as an alternative means of transport and the local bus is not accepting GWR tickets, please purchase a ticket on the bus, keep it and send it, together with your train ticket, to us to claim for a refund.

Disruption between Bridgend and Swansea

Heavy rain has flooded the railway between Bridgend and Pyle, blocking the line running from Bridgend towards Swansea. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or revised until 10:00.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on:

  • Transport for Wales services between Newport (South Wales) and Carmarthen via Cardiff Central and Swansea

  • First Bus routes:

    • X1: Swansea (Bus Station), Port Talbot Parkway (Station), Bridgend (Bus Station)

    • X2: Cardiff (Wood Street), Bridgend (Bus Station)

    • X7: Swansea (Bus Station), Neath (Bus Station)

    • X11: Swansea (Bus Station), Llanelli (Bus Station), Pembrey & Burry Port, Carmarthen (Bus Station)

Rail replacement coaches are operating between Swansea and Port Talbot Parkway. Please note rail replacement will take longer then rail services.

You might want to consider postponing your journey until services begin returning to normal.

Network Rail staff are on site and working to resolve the situation. At present, one of the lines is currently blocked. Trains are able to run at a reduced speed of 5 mph on the line running from Swansea towards Bridgend.

Check before you travel:
