Major disruption

The Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings for heavy rainfall covering parts of southern England and southern Wales today.

Areas that are not covered by weather warnings are also experiencing rainfall, and therefore services running in other parts of Wales and England may also experience disruption.

Please check before you travel, and allow extra time for your journey today. Services may be subject to delays and cancellations as a result of the poor weather.

The following disruptions are currently impacting South Western Railway services:

Lines reopened: disruption between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth expected until the end of service

Following flooding of the line towards Bournemouth the line has reopened. However, trains running between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth must do so at reduced speed. As a result of this, trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 120 minutes, cancelled or revised.

Because your journey has been heavily disrupted, you can book your own taxi and claim the cost back through the South Western Railway website. This applies to travel between any stations served by South Western Railway between Southampton Central and Weymouth. You will need to provide the following details to make a claim:

  • Your full contact details

  • The time and date of your journey

  • The stations you travelled to and from

  • A detailed description of the series of events that took place

  • Copies of your train ticket/s and taxi receipt

Additional information:

If you need any help with your journey, please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

If you would prefer to use local buses to continue your journey please check Traveline. South Western Railway tickets are not valid on local buses unless stated above.

Compensation:
