Description

Urgent repairs to the track between Redhill and Horley means that some lines will be blocked. Trains will run non stop through these stations.

Earlswood and Salfords will not be served.

Disruption is expected to commence at 22:45 and continue until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

From 22:45 until the end of service tonight, Southern and Thameslink trains will not call at Earlswood or Salfords in either direction, to or from London.

Some lines will need to be closed due to urgent repairs to the track. Trains will have to use alternative lines which bypass these two stations.

Southern / Thameslink will arrange for your ticket to be valid at no extra cost on local Metrobus services.

Using Metrobus will take longer, but their buses serve the Earlswood and Salfords areas on Routes 100, 430, 435 and 460 at the affected time of the evening. These buses connect with trains at Redhill, and some also connect with trains at Gatwick Airport.

If you are unable to use a bus service, and you are travelling from Earlswood or Salfords, please use the green emergency button on the station Help Point for further support with your journey. If you are travelling towards Earlswood or Salfords, please leave the train at Redhill, Horley or Gatwick Airport, and speak to staff there.

Southern recommend you leave at least 30 minutes of extra time for journeys which are affected by this.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Over the course of the last few days, a speed restriction has been in place on the lines used by stopping services in the Earlswood area due to a possible issue with the track. Network Rail engineers need to attend as soon as possible to inspect and repair the fault, and this cannot be done whilst trains are using the lines in question. Therefore, Southern are having to divert late-evening services around the issue.
