Description
A fault with the signalling system between Hitchin and Royston means trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Royston. As a result, these trains may be delayed by up to 10 minutes.
We expect this to continue until the end of the day.

You can continue to use your planned route, however we recommend leaving extra time to arrive at your destination.

To help you plan your journey, you can view alternative route maps.
Please check journey planners and station information boards before you travel and allow extra time to reach your destination.
Live departure boards are available, and you can check a live map to see if your journey has been affected.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Trains may be delayed due to a signal fault in this area. The signal is switching rapidly between colours instead of showing a steady indication. As a result, drivers must stop at the previous signal and get verbal instructions to continue, making journeys longer.
Railway signals help drivers stop safely by showing green for a clear track and yellow to warn of a red light ahead. Since this signal isn’t working reliably, extra precautions are needed.
Network Rail maintains the system, and the train operators are working with them to fix the fault as quickly as possible. In the meantime, services are being monitored and the train operators are doing their best to keep trains running.
Check before you travel:
