Description

Urgent repairs to the track between Hitchin and Cambridge means all lines are blocked. As a result of this, trains are unable to run between Hitchin and Cambridge and will be cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 20:00.

Customer advice:

Great Northern and Thameslink services are unable to run between Hitchin and Cambridge.

You will need to travel using an alternative route, and you should leave significant extra time to complete your journey.

Expected service plan:

We're expecting the following changes to our service:

  • Great Northern services which run between London Kings Cross and Cambridge / Letchworth Garden City are likely to be suspended, or terminate and start back at a different station to normal

  • Thameslink services which run between Brighton and Cambridge are likely to be suspended, or run between Brighton and London Bridge only

  • Great Northern services which run between London Kings Cross and Kings Lynn are likely to run between Royston / Cambridge and Kings Lynn only

Travel advice:

If you're travelling between the London area and Cambridge, you should travel on Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge.

If you're making a journey between London and Hitchin, you will be able to travel along this route, but you may need to travel on a different train to normal, or change trains at an intermediate station to complete your journey.

Replacement buses:

Replacement buses have been requested to run between Hitchin and Cambridge. Once we have more information from our bus suppliers, we will update this message.

Your ticket will be accepted at no additional cost on the below:

  • Alternative Thameslink and Great Northern services towards your destination

  • Elizabeth line services between Farrington and London Liverpool Street

  • Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge

  • London Underground services between London Terminals

Great Northern and Thameslink are working closely with Network Rail to resume normal train running as soon as it is safe to do so.
