Between Reading and Guildford

Description

A supermarket trolley trapped until a train at Sandhurst means the line between Reading and Guildford is blocked. Trains between these stations may be cancelled or delayed.

This is expected until 20:45.

Customer advice:

A trolley has reportedly been thrown off a bridge, onto the railway track and has become wedged under a train.

It is not currently possible to move the train until it has safely been removed, and the train inspected. As a result no trains are currently running between Reading and Guildford. We will provide updates as they come, as well as any alternatives put in place.

Customers at Reading travelling to Guildford or Gatwick Airport, can travel in to London Paddington, and then travel with South Western Railway to Guildford if they prefer.

For Gatwick Airport, customers can travel to London Paddington, then use Elizabeth Line services to Farringdon, and finally Thameslink towards Gatwick Airport.

At the moment, that is the only option for customers needing Gatwick Airport.

Great Western Railway are also arranging road transport at Reading for all affected stations.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on South Western Railway, Thameslink and Elizabeth line services via any reasonable route.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
