Description
All lines have now reopened following an earlier fault with the signalling system in the Dore & Totley area. Trains running between Sheffield and Chesterfield / Stockport may continue to be cancelled, revised, severely delayed by up to 120 minutes or diverted.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

East Midlands Railway between Sheffield and Derby
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
Any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them. You can view the formation of CrossCountry trains.
East Midlands Railway customer advice:
Trains can not run through the area between Sheffield and Chesterfield in both directions.
Sheffield / London St Pancras International - services will be diverted where possible. Alternatively, these services will start and terminate at Derby.
Liverpool Lime Street / Nottingham / Norwich - services will start and terminate at Nottingham.
You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost to travel via the following alternative routes:
Sheffield - Manchester - Liverpool Lime Street
You may use your ticket to travel between Sheffield and Manchester / Liverpool, via Leeds. You can use your ticket on TransPennine Express services between Leeds and Manchester / Liverpool, and Northern or CrossCountry services between Leeds and Sheffield. This will extend your journey by approximately 75 minutes.
Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester - Nottingham
You may use your ticket to travel between Nottingham and Manchester / Liverpool via Crewe. You can use your ticket on Avanti West Coast services between Stoke-on-Trent / Crewe and Liverpool / Manchester and London Northwestern Railway Railway services between Stoke-on-Trent / Crewe and Liverpool where you can board East Midlands Railway services towards Nottingham. This will extend your journey by approximately 30 minutes.
If you were due to travel on the cancelled 21:37 Liverpool Lime Street to Nottingham service, the following bus replacements will be available instead:
22:15 Liverpool Lime Street to Nottingham calling at Liverpool South Parkway, Widnes, Warrington Central, Manchester Oxford Road, Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Sheffield, Chesterfield and Nottingham
23:00 Manchester Piccadilly to Nottingham calling at Stockport, Sheffield, Chesterfield and Nottingham
22:35 Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield calling at Stockport, Chinley, Edale, Hope, Bamford, Hathersage, Grindleford, Dore and Sheffield
Stockport - Manchester
You may use your tickets on CrossCountry services between Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.
Sheffield - Nottingham
You may use your ticket on East Midlands Railway or CrossCountry services between Nottingham and Derby, and also between Derby and Sheffield. Rail replacement services are in operation between these stations to support. Rail replacement buses are expected to arrive at Sheffield and Nottingham calling at Langley Mill, Alfreton and Chesterfield (in both directions). Please speak to station staff for the timings of these services.
Travelling to London
You may use your ticket on LNER or CrossCountry services to Doncaster where you can change for a train to London Kings Cross.
You may use your ticket on Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Liverpool Lime Street.
Travelling to Peterborough, Ely and Norwich
You may travel from Leeds to Manchester / Liverpool Lime Street using TransPennine Express services and change at Leeds for LNER services to Peterborough. You may also travel via Birmingham to Ely using CrossCountry services. This route is likely to extend your journey time by up to 60 minutes.
If travelling further east, you may use Greater Anglia trains between Ely and Norwich. You can also use Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, and at no extra cost on the London Underground.
All of these options are available in both directions.

If you hold an ‘advance ticket’ which is usually valid on a specific train you may use it to travel on any of our trains on this route.
As it is late in the day, the number of connecting trains are limited. If you have already started your journey East Midlands Railway will make every effort to get you to your destination by rail. If not, they will make alternative arrangements for you. Please speak to a member of the team if you are concerned about your connecting journey. Please plan your journey in advance.
If you have a ticket dated for travel today (Thursday 16 October) and decide not to travel, you may use your ticket to travel tomorrow (Friday 17 October) instead.

Limited rail replacement transport has been requested to run between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly. Please note that journey times may be extended by 90 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.
