Description

A fault on a train between Luton and St Albans City means that some lines towards Luton are blocked. As a result, trains running between London St Pancras International and Bedford may be cancelled, delayed by up to 10 minutes or revised.

Disruption expected until 10:00.

Network Rail are now on site and are investigating the problem.

A visual disruption map video is available.

Customer advice for East Midlands Railway:

There is a fault with a train at Luton Airport Parkway and is disrupting trains on the Intercity London to Sheffield and London to Nottingham routes and on the Connect London to Corby route.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area in the north direction will be delayed by 5-10 minutes.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 5-10 minutes.

Customer advice for Thameslink:

One of the two northbound lines between St Albans City and Luton is currently blocked by a faulty train at Luton Airport Parkway. This is affecting Thameslink services towards Luton and Bedford.

We don't have an exact estimate for delays in the area, but we would recommend leaving around 15 minutes of extra time.

Our expected service plan

Thameslink will also need to make some changes to their services, as follows (these will also apply in the opposite direction on each route):

- Trains which usually run between Rainham and Luton will now only run as a shuttle service between Rainham and Dartford.

Alternative Southeastern services operate between Dartford and London, which you can use at no extra cost, and alternative Thameslink services will also run between London and Luton.

- Trains which usually run between Orpington and Luton will now only run between Orpington and Kentish Town or West Hampstead Thameslink.

Alternative Thameslink services will run between Kentish Town and Luton.

Please continue to check journey planners for full details.

Also, trains at some stations in this area may depart from different platforms compared to those usually served, so please listen to announcements and check station screens.
