Description

The emergency services are continuing to deal with a major incident between Hitchin and Peterborough. Whilst they carry out their work some lines are still closed.

Great Northern and Thameslink services will not call at Huntingdon.

LNER services between London Kings Cross and Peterborough may be cancelled, revised or delayed.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day on Monday 3 November.

Grand Central and Hull Trains services are not impacted.

Great Northern / Thameslink customer advice:

Lines have reopened between Hitchin and Peterborough, and trains which run between London Kings Cross and Peterborough will be able to run.

Huntingdon Station will remain closed until the end of the day tomorrow, Monday 3 November.

If you are travelling to or from Huntingdon, please expect your journey to take up to 20 minutes longer than usual.

If you are travelling from Huntingdon

You will need to take a rail replacement bus to either St Neots or Peterborough, and from there you can take a train service towards your destination.

If you are travelling to Huntingdon

Passengers travelling in the direction from London / Hitchin towards Huntingdon should alight the train at St Neots, where replacement buses are running to Huntingdon.

Passengers at Peterborough travelling to Huntingdon should use the rail replacement buses available from this station.

Car parking season tickets for Huntingdon will be accepted at St Neots while this is ongoing. You can begin your journey from St Neots, where train services towards Hitchin / London are available.

If you have parked at Huntingdon station and are looking to retrieve your vehicle

There are 3 sections to the station car park.

  • If your vehicle is parked on the west side of the station by Platform 3, you can now access the car park to exit with your vehicle.

  • If your vehicle is parked at the north end of the station by the main entrance, you can approach the police cordon and they will escort you to your vehicle so you can exit with it.

  • Customers with a vehicle parked at the south end of the station on the Platform 1/2 side, this area remains closed until further notice so please do not attend the station at this time.

LNER customer advice:

Due to a major incident at Huntingdon station, customers were asked not to travel on Saturday 1 November. Tickets will be valid up to and including Friday 7 November, you don’t need to change or amend your ticket, but LNER recommend making a seat reservation before you travel.

Customers travelling today, Sunday 2 November are advised to check on LNER's updates page before they travel, as there may be cancellations or alterations to the services today.

Rail replacement buses will run between Newark Northgate and Lincoln in both directions in placed of cancelled train services on this route.

Please be aware that engineering work at York is taking place this weekend which may impact your journey today.

If you have a ticket dated Saturday 1 or Sunday 2 November you may defer travel until Friday 7 November. Please make a new seat reservation for your newly intended journey.

You can obtain a refund if you no longer wish to travel from now until Friday 7 November.

If you were unable to complete your journey on Saturday 1 November and require reimbursement for a hotel or taxi, please contact the LNER team via [email protected], attaching a copy of your original ticket or booking confirmation email and any receipts for hotels and taxis. The team will respond to you as quickly as possible.

I have a ticket dated Saturday 1 November with a different operator, what can I do?

Hull Trains

If you have a Hull Trains ticket dated Saturday 1 November you will be able to use your existing ticket on another Hull Trains service today, Sunday 2 November. You don’t need to buy a new ticket or change your existing ticket to travel.

Please speak to other train companies if you need help travelling on their services.

If you no longer wish to travel, go back to your original point of purchase to process a refund.
