Description

A person has been hit by a train between London and Stevenage. As all lines are currently closed, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or diverted.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

LNER customer advice:

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on alternative train services, up to 2 hours before or after the cancelled service or on either of the two LNER services before or after this train, whichever is most appropriate to help you to complete your journey.

You can also use your ticket on Northern services via any reasonable route at no extra cost.

Great Northern and Thameslink customer advice:

No trains will run between Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage until further notice. All services between London and Peterborough/Cambridge/Kings Lynn will divert via Hertford North.

Please allow an extra 60 minutes for journey this evening, and check station screens and journey planners for the latest information.

If your train is delayed between stations, please stay on board and listen for updates. You can also ask staff if you need more information. Staff know where you are and are working to get you moving as soon as possible.

For your safety, please don’t leave the train unless instructed. Other trains may still be running, so staff can clear the area, and the tracks can be very dangerous.

Passengers at the following stations, that need to travel to Stevenage and beyond, may find it quicker to take a train to Finsbury Park, and catch a return service via Hertford North. Please check journey planners for this route:

Great Northern / Thameslink arranged some replacement buses at Welwyn Garden City and Stevenage that you may be able to use to reach your destination. They are expected to arrive at approximately 23:30. These buses will be under the control of local station teams.
