Description

Storm Amy is expected to bring very strong winds and heavy rain to many parts throughout the East of England with the potential for widespread disruption to Greater Anglia services until the end of the day, Saturday 4 October.

Yellow weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office.

Network Rail’s specialist weather team are closely monitoring the storm’s path and working with operators to confirm which routes are most likely to be impacted.

Customer advice:

Services on the following routes are subject to delays and short notice cancellations in both directions:

  • The tree blocking the railway between Saxmundham and Darsham has been removed and trains are now able to run again. Disruption is expected to continue until 13:00 whilst service recovers

  • A tree blocking the railway at Brundall means that trains are suspended between Norwich and Great Yarmouth / Lowestoft. This is expected until further notice

  • Overhead wire problems between Roydon and Bishops Stortford means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised. This is expected until further notice

Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.

To further assist you with your journey, Greater Anglia arranged for your ticket to be accepted on the following alternative options at no extra cost:

  • Thameslink services between Farringdon, London St Pancras and Cambridge

  • Great Northern services between London Kings Cross and Cambridge

  • London Underground services between Liverpool Street and Kings Cross

  • Local bus service 305 between Bishops Stortford and Stansted Airport
