Description
The Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice which cover the East Midlands Railway network. These will be in place until the end of the day.
Storm Goretti brought ice, strong winds and snow to parts of England and Wales. The amber weather warning has now ended, however, the severe weather will continue throughout today.
It is strongly advised that you avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary. Ticket restrictions have been relaxed in order for you to travel earlier or to postpone your plans, and travel on Saturday 10, Sunday 11 or Monday 12 January instead.
The following alterations have been confirmed. A number of routes will have no trains operating and no rail replacement transport will be provided. Please be aware that across the network, trains that do run may be delayed, cancelled or altered at late notice due to the severe weather.
You are strongly advised to check your journey in full on either of the affected days, and check our Status and Disruptions page if your journey involves travel with other train operators.
Between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich
The Hope Valley, the line between Sheffield and Manchester will be closed all day. This means that East Midlands Railway services cannot run between Sheffield and Manchester for the rest of today.
Due to the weather conditions, there will be no rail replacement buses running between these stations.
Trains will be amended to run between Sheffield / Nottingham and Norwich only.
Alternatively, if the train you intended to travel on is cancelled or you are unable to complete your journey then you can apply for a refund from your point of purchase.
Check before you travel:
You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.
Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
