Description

Lines have now reopened following a fault with the signalling system at Stowmarket. However, whilst service recovers, trains running through the station may be delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

Customer advice:

A freight train came to a stand in the Stowmarket area, due to a signal irregularity. As a result some lines were blocked, causing severe disruption to all services in the area.

A response team was dispatched to the train to assist. The freight is now on the move from Stowmarket and all lines have now reopened.

Alternative travel options:

Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on the following routes:

  • CrossCountry between Ely and Peterborough

  • East Midlands Railway between Norwich, Ely and Peterborough

If you are travelling from Norwich to Liverpool Street, you may travel on a Norwich to Stansted Airport service, change at Stansted Airport for the Stansted Express service to London Liverpool Street.
