Train operators affected

Route(s) affected

Southern between London Victoria and Ore / Eastbourne / Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Portsmouth & Southsea / Portsmouth Harbour

Thameslink between Cambridge / Bedford and Brighton, between Bedford and Three Bridges, and also between Peterborough and Horsham

Description

A safety inspection of the track at Three Bridges means that some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between Gatwick Airport and Horsham / Haywards Heath may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

A buckled rail due to the extreme heat at Three Bridges is causing disruption to services. Whilst these checks are carried out, there will be some delays, cancellations and last minute alterations to services. This is due to trains having to use fewer lines than normal. Please allow at least an extra 30 minutes to reach your destination.

The following changes to service are expected:

  • There will be a reduced service between Peterborough and Horsham, with trains running between Peterborough and Three Bridges instead

  • Trains that normally run from London Victoria to Bognor Regis will run to an amended schedule. They may:

    • Run between Horsham and Bognor Regis

    • After Horsham, run non-stop to Clapham Junction via Dorking (but not stopping at Dorking)

    • Divert via Hove, which means after Ford, the first service will be Three Bridges

This will mean that a limited service will run between Three Bridges and Horsham. The above is subject to driver route knowledge and will run normally in the down direction.

Please continue to check online journey planning tools, and when travelling, check station screens and listen to announcements.
