Between East Croydon / Beckenham Junction and London Bridge

Description

All lines have now reopened following an earlier tree on the railway between Tulse Hill and Peckham Rye. Trains running through these stations may continue to be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 20:30.

Customer advice:

Earlier this evening, a tree was blocking the line from Tulse Hill towards Peckham Rye and London Bridge.

Although the line has reopened, there are still some delays, service changes and cancellations in the area.

Some trains in the opposite direction will also be disrupted, as our trains and crews are no longer in the correct places because of this incident.

This affects the following routes:

  • Beckenham Junction - London Bridge via Crystal Palace

  • East Croydon - London Bridge via Streatham

Please check a journey planner before going to the station. If there is a long wait until the next train, it is recommend you use an alternative local route to complete your journey, if you can.

Your Southern ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • London Buses on any reasonable route between East Croydon / Beckenham Junction, Tulse Hill, the Peckham area and London Bridge

  • Thameslink between Tulse Hill or Peckham Rye and London Blackfriars

  • London Underground services on any reasonable route across London, including services between London terminals

  • Alternative Southern services via Forest Hill

  • London Trams between Beckenham Junction, Birkbeck, East Croydon and West Croydon

  • Southeastern services between Beckenham Junction, West Dulwich or Peckham Rye and London Victoria

  • London Overground services on the Windrush line between West Croydon, Norwood Junction or Crystal Palace and Canada Water, and Clapham Junction, Peckham Rye for London Underground connections

Using an alternative route will take longer, so please leave at least 30 minutes of extra time.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Southern have been working with local staff and our colleagues at Network Rail to remove a tree branch which was stuck under the wheels of our 17:43 Beckenham Junction to London Bridge service, when it was just beyond East Dulwich.

This has now been done, and Southern are working to get back to their timetable.
