Description

There is a fault on a train between Uttoxeter and Blythe Bridge. As a result, trains may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 16:30.

What has happened?

There is a fault on a train between Uttoxeter and Blythe Bridge. This is disrupting trains on the Crewe / Derby / Nottingham / Lincoln routes.

The on board team are communicating with the maintenance team to try and resolve the fault. They have arranged for a rescue train. This has now departed Derby station and is heading towards the train with the fault.

Network Rail have been requested to attend site. They are due to arrive at 14:30.

British Transport Police have advised that they have sent officers to the train with a fault. They are due to arrive on site at 14:30.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area from Derby towards Crewe cannot run.

Trains running through the area from Crewe towards Derby are affected and will now start from Derby. This is due to the train units not being able to get through to Crewe.

At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 2 hours. As soon as the problem is fixed the priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. The advertised timetable is expected to resume on the affected routes by 16:10.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.

You can travel with CrossCountry between Tamworth - Nottingham, and Nuneaton - Leicester.

You can travel with London Northwestern Railway between Stoke-on-Trent - Crewe and Crewe - Tamworth in both directions.

You can travel with Avanti West Coast between Stoke-on-Trent and Nuneaton.

All of these alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket, other train operators know about the disruption to your journey and your ticket can be used at no extra cost on their trains.

A replacement bus service is running in both directions between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby.

The first bus is due to depart Stoke-on-Trent at 15:20 and will call at Longton, Blythe Bridge, Uttoxeter, Tutbury & Hatton and Derby.

There is a bus due to depart Derby at 15:20 and will call at Tutbury & Hatton, Uttoxeter, Blythe Bridge, Longton and Stoke-on-Trent.

We promise that if you need to start your outward journey from a different operator's station due to this disruption, then you will also be able to travel back to that station when you return, regardless of if the disruption has ended or your ticket type. Our rail industry colleagues will welcome you on board with your original ticket.


These arrangements will remain in place until the line re-opens and the train service recovers.
